Thiruvampady emerges winner

The school wins Alappuzha edition of The Hindu Academic Pentathlon

A 10-member team from Higher Secondary School, Thiruvampady, emerged winners at the Alappuzha edition of The Hindu Academic Pentathlon held at Leo XIII Higher Secondary School, here on Tuesday.

The team comprising Asif Navaz, Akhilnath, Harikrishnan Namboothiri, Niswan Nahas, Akshay Jayagopal, Riswan Muhammed, Athul S. Krishna, Swathy S. Nair, Aswini B.L. and Manjima N.J. scored 72 points.

A team from Matha Senior Secondary School, Thumpoly, comprising Aarsha V., Reneeta Joyce, Ashwini S., Sujith S. Antony, Akhila V.P., Emmanual Pious, Aman Sulthana Anvar, Roshini K. Nixen, Ann Jain Antony and Parvathy P.A., was the runner-up, scoring 68 points.

Both the teams qualified for competing in the State-level final event to be held in Kochi.

21 teams

The event, organised by The Hindu Future India Club in association with Vignan’s University, saw young minds battle it out in five disciplines.

As many as 21 teams turned up for the Alappuzha edition of the event.

Six teams had been selected for the final rounds. The other teams that made it to the final of the Alappuzha edition were Bishop Moore Vidyapith, Cherthala, JNV, Chennithala, Government HSS, Kalavoor, and Amrita Vidyalayam, Haripad.

A panel of experts judged the event. N. Soorya Prakash, senior manager, The Hindu was the quiz master and anchor of the event.
