The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has published a national tender for physical infrastructural development of schools and colleges under the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission.

This includes spending ₹5 crore each on four schools and ₹3 crore each on 108 schools as part of upgrading them as centres of excellence. KITE has also published a tender for infrastructural upgradation of eight colleges at an average estimate of ₹8 crore each. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Board Fund (KIIFB) will fund this ₹408-crore project.

KITE had earlier invited a tender for 137 schools under a scheme which allotted ₹5 crore per school in each Assembly constituency and the construction activities in all these schools are progressing. “Once the tender processes of GHSS Mulakuzha in Chengannur, GVHSS Poovachal in Aruvikkara, GHSS Chengalam in Ettumanoor, and JNMGHSS Puthuppanam in Vadakara are complete, all the schools under this category would have facilities of international standards,” said K. Anvar Sadath, executive director of KITE.

Colleges included

The tender proceedings of 70 schools under the ₹3-crore scheme has already been completed and the construction activities of most schools are on.

In addition to the schools, KITE has also published tender for infrastructural upgradation of colleges at an average estimated cost of ₹8 crore each.

The colleges included are Govt. College, Thavanoor; T.M. Jacob Memorial Govt. College, Manimalakkunnu; BJM Govt. College, Chavara; Govt. College, Karyavattom; Govt. Arts and Science Colleges in Kunnamangalam, Balussery and Nadapuram; and Govt. College, Thalassery Chockli.

The tenders were published early this month in the State’s e-tender portal. The last date for bid submission of the tenders is March 30. Pre-bid meetings will be held on March 20.
