Temple burglary: 2 held with idols

The police here have arrested two persons, including the prime accused, in connection with the burglary at Kammadam Bhagavathi temple near Chittarikkal. The police team led by Vellarikundu Circle Inspector T.P. Sumesh arrested Ahamed Kabir, 25, the prime accused, and K.V. Sadanandan, 39. The police are on the lookout for the absconding Tajuddin, a resident of Mangad near Uduma. Superintendent of Police K. Srinivas at a press conference on Monday said the accused stole the panchaloha and brass idols. The duo were remanded to 14 days custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II in Kanhangad. The idols, which are valued over Rs.16 lakh, were found kept in a sack in the house of Ahammed Kabir at Chattanchal.
