Sudheeran seeks probe

October 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - Thrissur:

KPCC chief V.M. Sudheeran has said the recent revelations about the death of Swami Saswatikananda are shocking.

“The new revelations emphasise the demand for a detailed investigation into the Swami’s death. Truth should be revealed. The investigation should be acceptable to his family members too,” he said while interacting with the media at Ramanilayam here on Saturday.

Soft stance

“The Congress will never take any soft stance against communal forces. The attempt for religious polarisation by the BJP-SNDP nexus will not succeed.”

Mr. Sudheeran said the allegation of CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan about an unholy nexus between Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the RSS was politically motivated.

He said the guidelines to select candidates for the local body elections had been sent to the DCCs after detailed discussions by the KPCC.

“However, it is natural to have differences of opinion when it is a matter of selecting candidates for 22,000 seats. Such issues will be tackled through discussions,” he said.

He expressed solidarity with the writers who returned their awards in protest against the Union government’s fascist policies.
