Students under the banner of the Fraternity Movement took out a march to the District Collectorate here on Monday demanding a solution to the seat shortage for higher secondary and degree admissions in Malabar, particularly Malappuram district.
The police stopped the march in front of the Civil Station.
Inaugurating the march, Welfare Party State vice president Razak Paleri said that the State government was repeating the policy adopted by the British Raj towards Malabar.
He demanded that the State government declare a special package for Malabar to address the crisis in higher education in the northern districts.
Fraternity Movement district president K.K. Ashraf presided. Welfare Party district general secretary Ganesh Vaderi, Fraternity Movement district general secretary Sanal Kumar, and vice president Basheer Thrippanachi spoke.
