Anomalies in KSRTC duty pattern

The streamlining of the 1,325 Fast Passenger (FP) services of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) from Sunday to provide assured services to commuters and avoid bunching of trips was postponed reportedly in the wake of anomalies in the duty pattern.

The last-minute decision of the KSRTC management to defer the chain services of the KSRTC’s Fast Passengers was to avoid confrontation with trade unions who are agitated over the duty pattern. Trade unions had also opposed the move saying that proper consultation was not done with them as the initiative would need changes in the crew and bus deployment.

The FP chain services were planned every 10 minutes along the National Highway 66 and M.C. Road up to Thrissur in the normal hours and every five minutes from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

However, M.P. Dinesh, Chairman and Managing Director, KSRTC, said the decision to defer the chain services to a later day was to provide fool-proof chain services and to complete the ground work.
