Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said that the strike by house surgeons is aimed at troubling the common man.

Talking to reporters at Sabarimala, the Minister said the government would take stern action against them. He said the government had held talks with house surgeons and promised them to favourably consider their demand for a hike in stipend. But Saturday’s strike had no justification, he said.

Mr. Sivakumar said the strike was a challenge to the people as well as the government. The Minister said the striking house surgeons should understand that their irresponsible action had caused lot of difficulties to patients and it was against their professional ethics.
