Government departments in the district have been making slow progress in executing State Plan schemes.
According to a report presented at the District Development Committee (DDC) meeting held here recently, the Plan fund utilisation in the district stands at 16%, as on August 31. The utilisation of funds under 100% Centrally sponsored schemes and other Central-government-aided projects stand at 36% and 44% respectively.
Officials said that of the various government departments, only the District Port Office had utilised the entire Plan fund of ₹49.36 lakh allocated to it. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) executive engineer office at Cherthala has so far failed to utilise hardly any amount from the ₹4.33 crore earmarked to it.
No money spent
The office of panchayat deputy director with a sanctioned amount of ₹82,500, Minor Irrigation Department executive engineer (₹40 lakhs), Government College of Nursing, Alappuzha (₹14.5 lakh), and Kerala Water Authority Kottayam project division executive engineer’s office (₹2 lakh) also failed to spend a single penny during the period.
Of the total 47 departments under the district planning office, 13 departments have spent only around 10% of the sanctioned amount. This includes Government Medical College, Alappuzha; Public Works Department (buildings wing); PWD (NH wing); Major Irrigation Department, Alappuzha division; Alappuzha town planner; District Medical Office; Harbour Engineering Department; and Government Dental College, Alappuzha, among others.
On the other hand, district employment office has utilised 95.44% of the total ₹56.78 lakh sanctioned to it. It is followed by Kayamkulam project officer (90.77%), UDISMAT (84.05%), Animal Husbandry Department (73.07%), Education deputy director office (71.75%), Women and Child Welfare Department (62.82), Labour Department (56.58%), Scheduled Castes Development Department (55.83%), Scheduled Tribes Development Department (54.85%), Fisheries Department (52.52%), Kerala State Electricity Board executive engineer office, Haripad, (50.58%) are among the government departments that have so far spent more than half of the total sanctioned amount.
