Minister for Home Ramesh Chennithala said here on Monday that the government was not opposed to a re-investigation into the death of Swami Saswathikananda of Sivagiri Math.

However, he said the government had to look into various legal aspects too in the backdrop of the fact that the Crime Branch had filed the final report on it 13 years ago. The Minister said the government had received a letter from Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan seeking a detailed probe into the alleged siphoning of funds from a micro-finance venture floated by SNDP Yogam. He said the Government would take a decision in this regard on the basis of the Home Secretary’s report on the same.

Stray dog menace

Mr. Chennithala said his personal view was that stray dogs should be culled, adding that the view of the Supreme Court in this regard too was supportive of his view. The Chief Minister would convene an official meeting after the local body elections to take a decision on the issue, he said.
