State conference of surgeons in Kannur

The annual conference of the Kerala chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) will be held here on May 8, 9, and 10.

The conference, being hosted by the Kannur Surgical Society, would be held at the Rubco Auditorium here, organising committee president A.K. Venugopal said at a press conference here on Thursday.

The latest and emerging technologies in surgery will be discussed at the meet, which would be attended by surgeons and postgraduate medical students. The focus of the conference will be keyhole surgery. Distinguished keyhole surgeon C. Palanivelu will be honoured, he added.

The conference will also have presentations on oncoplastic breast surgery; and development of minimal access cancer surgery in India, among others, Dr. Venugopal said. Nearly 300 delegates will participate, Dr. Venugopal added.
