The State government will initiate steps to promote the Malayalam language among non-resident Keralites, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the development and beautification work at Thunchan Paramba, Tirur, on Monday, the Chief Minister said money would never be an issue in promoting the Malayalam language.
The Tourism Department is beautifying Thunchan Paramba at a cost of ₹2 crore.
Mr. Vijayan said that his government would do everything possible for the promotion of the Malayalam language.
He said the Malayalam Mission would chalk out a project for the promotion of the mother tongue.

“We are planning to develop Thunchan Paramba into a cultural pilgrim centre. Money will not be a problem here,” he said, adding that some organisations were opposing the development work and other activities at Thunchan Paramba.
“Thunchan Paramba is following certain values. It is a centre of all people irrespective of their religion and caste,” he said.
