Joining people from all walks of life, several international sports celebrities too have urged their supporters to provide all possible help to the brethren in rain-ravaged Kerala.

While Indian captain Virat Kohli, despite being busy with his preparations for the Trent Bridge Test match against England, took to Twitter and prayed that the people of the State be safe and stay indoors as much as possible, West Indies cricketers Chris Gayle and Bravo were quick to respond to an appeal of the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and ask their fans to extend all possible help through posts from their Instagram accounts.

Also to make a similar appeal was Indian test cricketer Murali Vijay, who too circulated the KCA post to his followers, again through Instagram. The KCA had a couple of days ago handed over a cheque of ₹10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

In the meanwhile, Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri, in an emotional appeal through Twitter, sought contributions for the people of Kerala from all sections of society.

“People in Bengaluru, we in Bengaluru Football Club (BFC) are sending relief aid. Please come to the Bengaluru football stadium and do your bit,” the BFC star striker wrote.

On Friday, top international clubs of Europe made a similar appeal through posts on several social media platforms. This included Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona.
