The poor condition of the Mancha-Aruvikkara road has made the State Human Rights Commission register a suo motu case apart from deciding to issue notices to executive engineer and secretary Public Works Department; secretary, Kerala Water Authority; and the District Collector to inquire into delay in restoring the road.

Acting on a complaint filed by Aam Aadmi Party leader G. Harikumar, SHRC chairman J.B. Koshy has asked the authorities to submit explanations by November 5.

In his complaint, Mr. Harikumar stated that the poor condition of the stretch had led to suspension of bus services. The case has been posted to November 30.
