The Department of History at Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage (PSMO) College, Tirurangadi, organised a seminar on “multi-ethnic musical impressions: from Arabian peninsula and beyond”, on Tuesday.
Rolf Killius, noted ethnomusicologist, inaugurated the seminar and delivered the keynote address. He triggered the curiosity of the audience by playing the music that used to be the fashion in clubs and coffee houses in the Gulf along the Arabian coast in the 1930s and 40s. The seminar discussed the ethnomusicology of the Arabian Gulf.
PSMO College manager M.K. Bava; Principal K. Azeez; former head of the history department, P.P. Abdul Razak; other faculty members Abdul Azeez, M.H. Aneesh, Nizamudeen, R. Saravanan, Baburaj, Shabeer Mon, Rafeek Hudavi and K.T. Firoz spoke.
