Schools in the district will reopen for the new academic year on Monday. According to Deputy Director of Education (DDE) Jessy Joseph, 15,00 new entrants are expected at Class I level this year. “There 1.5 lakh students under Kerala syllabus in the district from Class I to Class X,” she said.
According to her, school uniforms will be given free for all girl students from Class I to Class VII. Boys who belong to BPL category will also be eligible for free school uniforms. “The required amount has been transferred to the accounts of the heads of institutions for the purpose,” Ms. Joseph said.
The district-level Praveshanotsavam, the ceremony for welcoming students, will be held at Government LP School, Kudamaloor. The ceremonies will commence with a rally in which students, members of parent-teacher associations, residents’ associations, Kudumbasree members and others will participate. Deputy Superintendent of Police V. Ajith will flag off the rally.
Minister for Forests Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will formally inaugurate the Pravesanotsavom.
New entrants to the world of letters will be welcomed with a school bag, umbrella and a colouring kit. District panchayat president Nirmala Jimmy will preside. Jose K. Mani, MP, will deliver the keynote address.
