SBT staff strike work

June 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - KOLLAM:

State Bank of Travancore (SBT) employees under the banner of the SBT Employees Union went on a strike on Thursday in protest against moves to merge the bank with the State Bank of India (SBI).

Union leaders claimed that the strike was total in the district.

A dharna in front of the SBT zonal office here in connection with the strike was inaugurated by Communist Party of India leader C. Divakaran.

In his address, Mr. Divakaran said the SBT was Kerala’s own bank, and it had to be retained in that name.
