Sanalkumar Sasidharan's film S Durga will have a special screening at the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which begins in Thiruvananthapuram on December 8.

Kerala State Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal said the film is being screened as a mark of protest against the denial of permission for its screening at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). "There is a clear political agenda behind the decision not to screen the film at IFFI even after the Kerala High Court issued an order to that effect," Mr. Kamal said.

The filmmaker had withdrawn the film from the 'Malayalam Cinema Today' section following its exclusion from the competition section. Mr. Kamal said the filmmaker had agreed to the screening of the film at the IFFK.

S Durga had won the Hivos Tiger award at the Rotterdam Film Festival, the Young Jury award in the 53rd Pesaro Film Festival, special mention from the Official Jury in the 53rd Pesaro Film Festival, Golden Apricot award at the international feature competition category in the Yerevan International Film Festival 2017 and the best international feature narrative award in the Guanajuato International Film Festival, Mexico.
