The hope of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Dharma Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, to become the Chief Minister by aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was nothing but a reverie, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) State secretariat member Chavara Vasu Pillai has said.

The RSP leader was inaugurating the party’s two-day vehicular political campaign in the district at a function held at Mylapra, near here, on Friday.

Campaign

Mr Pillai said the vehicular campaign was to expose the communal facism of the BJP-led government at the Centre and to popularise the achievements of the United Democratic Front government over the past four-and-a-half years.

He said the common people were worried about the fate of secularism in the country in the backdrop of the attempts by the communal forces to disrupt communal peace and harmony.

Mr Pillai said it was high time the leftist and other secular forces joined hands to fight against the communal, facist agenda of the BJP.

UDF stronger

However, Mr Pillai said the UDF could not yet reach the tremendous achievements of its State government to the people over the past four-and-half years.

Mr Pillai further claimed that the UDF base had been strengthened with the RSP joining the coalition.

Saleem P. Chacko, RSP State committee member, presided over the function. George Varghese, RSP district secretary; T.M. Sunilkumar, Thomas Joseph, R.M. Bhattathiri, and P.G. Prasannakumar, State secretariat members, also spoke.

The vehicular campaign will come to a close at Pandalam on Saturday afternoon.
