Rs.360-crore World Bank aid for local bodies

Economically backward panchayats to benefit

The government will give the Rs.360-crore aid expected from the World Bank to economically backward grama panchayats for implementing various projects in their jurisdiction, Minister for Panchayats and Social Justice M.K. Muneer has said.

Inaugurating the new office building of the Arauvappulam grama panchayat in Konni taluk on Monday, Mr. Muneer said the order increasing the salary of Anganwady teachers to Rs.1,000 would be issued soon.

The Minister said the government had decided to provide honourarium to the Community Development Society vice-chairperson of the Kudumbasree too.

Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash inaugurated the district-level celebrations of the fourth anniversary of the United Democratic Front government on the occasion.

Panchayat president Deepa Sanoj presided.
