The Pathanamthitta muncipality's annual budget for 2012-13 envisaged an income to the tune of Rs. 24,21,97,856, expenditure worth Rs. 22,57,58,600, leaving a surplus of Rs. 1,64,39,256.
The municipal vice-chairperson, Rasheedabeevi, presented the budget at the council meet presided by the chairman, A. Sureshkumar on Tuesday.
The civic body’s annual budget stressed on infra-structure development. The budget has earmarked Rs. 10 lakhs for the preliminary works of the proposed indoor stadium project.
The municipal budget has made allocations for drinking water supply in the municipal limits. The budget has set apart Rs. 20 lakhs for the preliminary works of the Thaikkavu drinking water scheme. It also envisages drilling of tube wells in different parts of the municipality.
Ms Rasheedabeevi said a permanent market for the products of various Kudumbasree units would be set up at the private bus stand complex in the current financial year.
The budget has also made allocations worth Rs. 15 lakhs for Anganwady building construction, Rs. 10 lakhs for a modern reference library near the District Stadium and Rs. 9 lakhs for two e-toilets.
