The Travancore royal family on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court for the removal of K.N. Satheesh as the Executive Officer of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, citing instances of unbecoming conduct, misuse of office and run-ins with the temple’s administrative committee and staff.

The application filed in the name of Sri Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma reproduces several reports by successive chairpersons of the temple administrative committee, two of whom were Principal District and Sessions Judges, Thiruvananthapuram, to show that Mr. Satheesh's behaviour gave rise to a large number of complaints from staffers and devotees.

The application said it was affecting the serene atmosphere of the temple. “It was also pointed out that the Executive Officer was acting in a high-handed manner, had become a law unto himself and was riding roughshod over the instructions of the committee,” the royal family said.
