Rights panel confirms assault on devotee

: An investigation by the Human Rights Commission confirmed the allegation of harassment of a devotee and his mother by a security person at Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple.

The report of the chief investigation officer of the of the rights panel IG S. Sreejith demanded action against assistant manager Sunil Kumar of the temple and the security worker Radhakrishnan. The Human Rights panel judicial member Justice R. Natarajan asked the Guruvayur Devaswom Administrator to submit a report on the incident before the panel.

A mentally-challenged devotee and his mother were assaulted by a security person at the temple when they reached for temple darshan in February, 24, 2014. The commission initiated the investigation on a petition filed by social activist George Vattukulam . — Staff Reporter
