The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] was scared of Sabarimala and hence the party has been removing the hoardings and boards erected by the Sabarimala Karma Samithi (SKS) in different parts of the district, former Director General of Police and incumbent general secretary of the samithi T.P. Senkumar has said.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Senkumar said the Chief Election Observer maintained that the SKS hoardings and boards were not in violation of the poll code. The CPI(M) should replace those hoardings and boards lest the samithi would take legal course against it, he said.
Mr. Senkumar said the SKS would make the people recall the harassment meted out to the devotees at Sabarimala in the name of implementing a Supreme Court verdict on women’s entry into the Ayyappa temple.
He said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who had halted his public speech on hearing the prayer from a mosque was becoming intolerant towards the Namajapom at a temple. This intolerance was what led to the controversial severing of power connection to a temple at Kattakkada the other day, he said.
Mr. Senkumar said the Chief Minster was intolerant towards only one section of the community, adding that the `politics of communal appeasement’ in Kerala would come to an end with the coming general election.
He said Mr. Vijayan would be the last CPI(M) Chief Minister of Kerala.
The LDF government had implemented the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala without even properly reading it, he said.
Mr. Senkumar said ‘‘lakhs of`chowkidars’’ led by K. Surendran were in Pathanamthitta to protect Sabarimala. The people knew well that Mr. Surendran was the one who came forward to help the devotees at a time when the government displayed arrogance at Sabarimala in the name of the Supreme Court verdict, he said.
