Various programmes will be held in the district to mark the Reading Week observance in the district being organised by the Information and Public Relations Department (I&PRD) from June 19 to 25.
I & PRD officials said in a press release here on Thursday that a meeting of officials of various government departments and voluntary organisations held at the Collectorate finalised the programmes to be held during the week-long observance.
The meeting was chaired by the Additional District Magistrate O. Muhammad Aslam.
The release said that the district-level programme would begin on June 19 in collaboration with the District Library Council, Akshaya Mission, Education Department and Panchayat department.
The programmes would include interaction with writers, competitions on reading, recitation and reading of poems and essays and quiz competition.
A quiz competition for high school students would be held at the Kannur Government Higher Secondary School as a precursor to the week-long programme, the release said.
Programmes would also be held at the Collectorate, the release said.
District Information Officer E.V. Sugathan explained the details of the programmes.
