 Stray dog menace

The stray dog menace, especially rabid dogs, is rampant across the State despite a High Court order to take strong measures from local bodies to prevent the problem. Recently, a youth from Payyannur died after being bitten by a rabid dog. It is sad hospitals in Kerala do not have anti-rabies vaccine.

Missing links

While it is reliably learnt that the Palakkad-Pollachi broad gauge line is to be opened for train service within a couple of months, there seems to be no attempt to provide proper connections to those trains at Palakkad Junction. The people from north Kerala have fewer options. The devotees to Palani are the affected most. The Railways can implement connectivity without much effort by extending passenger trains terminating at/starting from Shoranur to Palakkad Junction and back.

Train No.56602 Kannur -Shoranur Passenger, which arrives at Kozhikode at 5 p.m. and leaves at 6.15 p.m., runs almost empty after Kuttippuram. If this is rescheduled and extended to Palakkad, it will provide a proper connection to Pollachi. Train No. 56601 leaving Shoranur at 5.45 p.m.  for  Kozhikode  runs half empty. This service has to be started from Palakkad.

Deafening sound

In almost all autorickshaws, a set of speaker boxes are fitted and played at an intolerable decibel level. This puts passengers to great inconvenience.
