for Town Hall
It has been two years since the municipality razed down the century-old Kannur Town Hall, which was in a dilapidated condition.
It was decided then to have a hall and office structure in its place.
However, nothing has come in its place so far.
The municipality appears keen on having more exhibitions on the site.
The place is also being used to dump waste.
The British era building could have been restored as a heritage structure.
Many important meetings, conferences, festivals and exhibitions had been held at the Town Hall.

There has been frequent disruption in power supply — 15 to 20 times within a short span of the day — for the past one week in Pallikunnu area in Kannur. There is also constant flickering of light, indicating poor supply.
This has caused hardship to residents, hospitals and commercial malls.
When I contacted a KSEB official, he attributed this to high load that the power lines were unable to cope with. I request the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB)authorities to look into the problem and take remedial measures.

I would like to draw the attention of the Palakkad municipal authorities to the problems caused by stray dogs in the municipal areas of Palakkad. People find it difficult to step out of the house in Shekaripuram owing to stray dog menace. Waste dumped in the open draws dogs to the area.

Rabies vaccine is available in Kannur district free of cost at the Government hospital. It is for post exposure prophylaxis and effective if taken in time and according to recommended schedule.
The particular unfortunate incident of a person dying of rabies in Payyanur could have been avoided if he had been administered vaccine in time. There is no curative treatment once clinical rabies develops.
Control of stray dogs is the only remedy.
