Raja confident of big LDF win in polls

The people of Kerala would give a fitting reply to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s bid to gain roots in the State through sheer rhetoric and demagogy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders, says CPI national secretariat member D. Raja.

Mr.Raja who was here on Friday as part of the Left Democratic Front campaigning, told The Hindu that the repeated visits of Mr. Modi and BJP president Amit Shah to the State was proof of their desperation.

“These leaders can never conjure the imagination of the people of Kerala through such gimmicks,” Mr.Raja said.

“The presence of the Left parties would increase considerably in the Lok Sabha. Since we are waging a relentless, uncompromising fight against the fascist and communal forces, people have great confidence in us and we would reciprocate too,” he says.

Rousing reception

The rousing reception accorded to the Left leaders and candidates across the State in the course of their campaigning, Mr.Raja deems, is proof of the popularity the Left Democratic Front enjoys among the people and the unflinching commitment of the Left parties to mitigate the woes of the poor, the marginalised, farmers, farm labourers, unemployed youth and such others who are bearing the brunt of the neo-liberal policies of the National Democratic Alliance government.

“ I repose faith in the vibrancy of the youth in curbing corruption and nepotism ,” Mr. Raja says.
