An NIA special court here on Monday remanded Abdul Subhan Qureshi, a founding member of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) and an accused in the Wagamon SIMI camp case, in judicial custody till May 21. Qureshi, who had been lodged in a high security prison in Ahmedabad, was brought to Kochi on Sunday.

Following the court order, he was shifted to the Viyyur central prison in Thrissur.

The NIA will now be approaching the court seeking to conduct an identification parade of Qureshi in the presence of a magistrate.

Thereafter, it will seek his custody for evidence collection at Thangalpara in Wagamon, where the armed training was held in 2007.

Qureshi was allegedly the treasurer of SIMI when the outfit organised the training camp at Wagamon.

A native of Maharastra, Qureshi landed in NIA’s custody in New Delhi in January while returning from Saudi Arabia with a mission to revive the Indian Mujahideen.
