The Calicut University has introduced a new online system at its Pareeksha Bhavan to speed up the processing and issuance of degree certificates. The new software developed by the university’s computer cell will be on free platform.

Students can now apply online for their degree certificates and track their application. “We expect it to bring about a major change by speeding up the process of certificate issuance,” said Examination Controller P. Sivadasan and Computer Cell Director V.L. Lajeesh.

Students will get messages in their mobiles for receipt of their applications and during processing of their certificates. “They will get three messages, from the receipt of application to the dispatch of their certificates by post,” said Dr. Sivadasan. Any shortfalls in the application will be intimated to the student through SMS.

University officials said the new system would obviate the need for the students to come to the university to apply for their certificates.

The new free software developed by the University Computer Cell has replaced the one prepared by the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT), which the university had used so far.

Officials said that some shortcomings in the C-DIT software were addressed in the new software. They also said that the own software would also bring about financial benefits to the university. Students can apply for degree certificates through the website dconline.uoc.ac.in.
