Protest march for fishermen protection

T.J. Anjalose, State president of the Mastya Thozhilali Federation affiliated to All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), will lead a procession along the coastal areas as a form of protest in the district and neighbouring Kollam district from Wednesday demanding protection to life and job of fishermen.

The procession will be inaugurated by State general secretary of the Federation, P. Raju at Pallithodu at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, a release said here on Tuesday. P. Thilothaman, MLA will inaugurate the valedictory of the procession for the day at Ambalappuzha at 6 p.m.

The procession will begin from Thottappally from 9 a.m. on Thursday and will conclude at Pallithottathu at 6 p.m. the same day. CPI national executive member, Pannyan Ravindran will inaugurate the valedictory meeting on the occasion.

AITUC State general secretary, Kanam Rajendran will inaugurate a protest march to Neendakara Coastal Police Station in Kollam district on March 16 demanding among others arrest of the captains of the two ships that was involved in shooting of fishermen as well as collision with fishing boat after booking them for murder and for sanctioning compensation of international standards.
