A prepaid auto counter at the Thiruvalla railway station was inaugurated by District Collector S. Harikishore on Tuesday forenoon.
Addressing the gathering on the railway station premises, the District Collector said the prepaid auto service would be of great help to both autorikshaw drivers and the passengers. He said service of as many as 40 autorikshaws would be available at the railway station round the clock.
The auto fare to different places in and around Thiruvalla has been displayed at several points at the railway station in association with the Y’s Men’s Club of Thiruvalla. He said a user fee of Rs.2 would also be levied from the passengers.
Arun Thomas, Commercial Manager of Thiruvananthapuram railway division; Eapen Thomas, Thiruvalla Railway Station Manager; P.J. Amina, District Planning Officer; and workers of various autorikshaw drivers’ unions attended the function.
