Polling goes up in district

Increase of five percentage points in voting than in 2014

As many as 20,03,466 voters representing 73.81% of the total electorate in the district exercised their right to franchise in the two Lok Sabha constituencies in the district on Tuesday.

The polling is more than five percentage points over the 2014 figure.

Women outnumber

Women outnumbered men in the total votes polled in the Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal constituencies.

As many as 10,54,207 of the 14,23,857 women voters in the district and 9,49,240 of the 12,90,259 male voters cast their votes.

Attingal

The Attingal constiuency had a higher polling percentage of 74.23 when compared to that of Thiruvananthapuram (73.40%).

In the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, the highest increase in polling percentage points was registered in the Kazhakuttam Assembly segment (5.62). This was followed by Nemom (5.15) and then Kovalam (4.93).

Among the Assembly segments in the Attingal constituency, Kattakada recorded the highest increase in polling percentage points (7.83).

Nedumangad came second registering 7.02 and Aruvikkara third with 6.88.
