Pinarayi defends VS

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan's remarks about Sindhu Joy, former State president of the Students Federation of India (SFI) who later quit the CPI(M), were twisted out of context.

Speaking to mediapersons at Aluva on Monday, Mr. Vijayan said that Mr. Achuthanandan had only made a reference to those people who had joined the Congress and became irrelevant after the initial gusto. Ms. Joy was a good SFI activist and the party had given her due recognition. Now she is taking rest, as she herself had said. Mr. Achuthanandan had given an explanation for the remarks, Mr. Vijayan added.
