The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tirur, celebrated the NCC Day on Sunday by taking out a bicycle expedition to Government Old Age Home at Tavanur.

The cadets highlighted the increasing need for geriatric care in our society. They said the expedition was to create awareness among the people about importance of protecting and caring the elderly.

The bicycle rally was organised under the auspices of 29(K) battalion of NCC, Calicut University. The cadets distributed clothes to the inmates of the Old Age Home, and presented a variety of programmes for them. DySP T.C. Venugopal flagged off the procession. Social activists Kumari Sukumaran and Col. Sukumaran addressed the cadets.NCC officer S.G. Shylesh welcomed the gathering. School headmaster Shaju K. Thomas presided. Faculty members Babu Malol and P.K. Nandakumar spoke. Bhuvanendran Pillai proposed a vote of thanks.
