Patriarch arriving in Kochi today

The Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church Igantius Aphrem II will arrive here on his second apostolic visit to India on Tuesday.

He will be received at the Cochin international airport by Church members led by Catholicos Baselios Thomas I and synod secretary Joseph Mar Greogorios.

He will proceed to a hotel in the city before going to the Patriarchal Centre at Puthenkurisu, where he will preside at a synod meeting of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church.

He will address members of the working committee of the Jacobite church.

The Vice President will then proceed to Thiruvananthapuram by air. He will meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the State capital on Wednesday and visit Manjanikkara.

The Patriarch will travel to Delhi on Thursday to meet the President and the Prime Minister in the capital. He will return to Lebanon on May 26.
