Parumala church fete from Oct. 26

The annual festival of St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Church at Parumala will begin with the flag-hoisting ceremony on October 26.

The Christian pilgrim centre, which houses the tomb of St. Gregorios, the first canonised Indian saint, will receive thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country during the week-long annual festival.

Youhanon Mar Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of the Niranom diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, will hoist the flag at 2 p.m. on October 26. Mathews Mar Sevarios, secretary of the synod, will inaugurate pilgrim week celebrations on the Parumala seminary premises at 5 p.m. Youhanon Mar Polycarpus will launch 144-hour-long prayers on the occasion.

Mar Aprem will inaugurate an ecumenical meet on October 30. Philipose Mar Chrysostum, Metropolitan Emeritus of the Mar Thoma Chruch, will deliver the keynote address.

Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose II will inaugurate an Akhila Malankara Gayaka Sanghom meet at 10 a.m. on October 31. Youhanon Mar Diascorus will inaugurate a youth meet at 2.30 p.m. Mar Chrysostomos will lead the holy Eucharist at 8.30 am on November 1. The Catholicos will inaugurate a pilgrims’ meet at 2.30 p.m.
