With the announcement of local body elections, the model code of conduct has come into force, District Collector N. Padmakumar has said. Under the code, there is a ban on boards erected by political parties or other organisations at public places. The boards should be removed immediately, he said. If not, the district administration would remove them and the cost incurred would be collected as penalty from the respective organisations. The Collector said processions and dharnas that could hinder work of officials assigned with electoral duties had been banned. — Special Correspondent
