The official signature video of Kerala Tourism has gone viral in Pakistan, indicating the State’s rising popularity among vacationers worldwide.

The 4.1-minute video is expected to bring in more footfall to the State, rated as “one of the 10 paradises of the world” and one of the 50 “must-see-in-a-lifetime destinations.” However, recent comments by reviewers of YouTube channels like A.A. Reactions on the greenery, dance forms, rich culture, festivals, and communal harmony have come as a surprise to the tourism authorities since the video was uploaded two-and-a-half years ago on keralatourism.org.

Javed and Hashim, reviewing for A.A. Reactions, a YouTube channel, are all praise for the ‘beautiful State and the Western Ghats.’ Samar Kakakhel speaks about Koodiyattam, elephants, and peaceful coexistence of Keralites. Many, like the reviewer for the Vickey Girl channel, have expressed keenness to visit the ‘green State.’ Some of the reviews of the video, which has emerged as the theme song of Kerala Tourism, has been watched by 87,000 people.

“It came as a surprise to us when the video, which has Kerala’s nature, culture, people, and art forms in a capsule form, went viral all of a sudden. The reasons need to be looked into,” says Kerala Tourism Director P. Bala Kiran. The official video has already secured more than 17 lakh views on its Facebook page, besides shares of several lakhs. Over 15 lakh people have seen it in YouTube.

The video features a song, Muthalam mudithalam kaliyadum nade nin thunjathu..., in Devagandhari raga, which one can relate to Kerala’s own ‘sopana’ music. The lyrics is by Manoj Kuroor, a writer and a chenda artist, and music by singer and composer Sreevalsan J. Menon. Meera Rammohan and Sreeranjini Kodampally have rendered the song.

Jap comment

“We are happy that the video is fresh even after two-and-a-half years. The Japanese have also commented on the video recently,” adds M.R. Hari, of Invis Multimedia, the IT solution-provider for Kerala Tourism, which did the visualisation.
