One more person admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, has tested positive for Nipah virus infection, taking the total number of patients undergoing treatment to four in the State.

R.L. Saritha, Director, Health Services, told mediapersons here on Wednesday that the case history of the patient was being studied to find a common link to the deceased or other infected people. He is a resident of Kozhikode. The results of 12 blood and other body fluid samples of suspected people were made available on the day. All the others were negative. The contact list of those under observation has been widened to 1,353 now. Nine persons were under surveillance at the MCH, Dr. Saritha said.

Asked about the death of a Kerala native in Kolkata recently with suspected Nipah symptoms, she said that the details were awaited.
