The death toll due to Nipah virus infection in the State has gone up to 13, as one more person undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital succumbed on Saturday.
Sources gave her name as Kalyani,62, of Perambra. The lab results of her blood and body fluid samples were made available only on Saturday.
As on Friday, three persons infected with the virus were undergoing treatment in Kozhikode district. Meanwhile, tests on samples of 21 suspected patients from the Manipal Centre for Virus Research on Thursday and Friday, returned only one Nipah infection confirmation.
As many as 26 people are under treatment at hospitals across the State with suspected symptoms. Ten of them are in Kozhikode, six in Malappuram, three each in Ernakulam and Kannur, and one each in Kasaragod, Wayanad, Thrissur, and Thiruvananthapuram.
