Students take part in a butterfly camp at KFRI at Peechi.

A two-day residential camp for students was held at the Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi, to create awareness about various types of butterflies and the need to protect them.

Addressing the students, KFRI director P.G. Latha said such programmes would create awareness among children about the need to conserve endangered species of butterflies. The speakers at the camp encouraged the children to learn more about butterflies. Mary Anto, who is researching on butterflies, spoke about the specialities of bird wing butterflies, the biggest butterflies in India.

The camp concluded on Thursday.
