The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed senior revenue and police officers not to attend functions that do not ensure protection of human rights.

Commission member K. Mohan Kumar in his order at a hearing held here on Thursday said the presence of senior officers at such functions would send wrong message to society. Mr. Kumar made the direction in the case of using a 11-month-old child for paragliding here in May last year. It had been inaugurated by the District Police Chief.

Mr. Kumar ordered that children aged up to two should not be taken for paragliding. All the stringent conditions should be adhered to while taking children up to the age of 10 for paragliding, he said. The doctor's certificates concerning children's physical and mental fitness should be examined, he said.
