Oedipus secures award at Kerala theatre festival

Oedipus of the KPAC, Kayamkulam, has secured the best play award at the State Professional Theatre Festival held in Thrissur. Manoj Narayanan, who directed Oedipu s, is the best director.

While Babu Thiruvalla of the play Ramettan won the best actor (male) award, Meenakshi Aditya of the play Lakshmi Adhava Arangile Anarkali was adjudged the best actor (female). Francis T. Mavelikara ( Oru Nazhi Mannu ) is the best scriptwriter. Lakshmi Adhava Arangile Anarkali (Kozhikode Sangeerthana) and Karuna (Kalidasa Kalakendram) won the the second best play award.

While Kalavur Sreelan ( Lakshmi Adhava Arangile Anarkali ) and Shinil Vadakara ( Karuna ) won the second best actor (male) award, Manju Reji ( Karuna ) and Beena Anil ( Nirbhaya ) won the second best actor (female) award.

Of the 29 entries, 10 plays were performed at the Regional Theatre of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi from July 23 to August 1.
