The Nair Service Society (NSS) has turned down the offer of talks extended by CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
In a statement here on Thursday, NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair said the organisation did not intend to parley with any entity and had not assigned any person to do so.
‘‘Despite apprising Mr. Balakrishnan and the Chief Minister of our demand to protect the faith and custom at Sabarimala on a number of occasions, their responses had been disheartening. After that, the NSS never attempted to have a discussion with anyone on the issue nor had we assigned any entity for the purpose,’’ the statement said.
According to Mr. Nair, the government’s stance that it would implement the Supreme Court order even in case of a new order should not be regarded as an act of kindness. Noting that the NSS stance on Sabarimala was set in stone, it further affirmed that the organisation would stand firm by the devotees regardless of the outcome of the ongoing litigation. ‘‘Instead, it is the government which should change the stance,’’ it said.
