NSS call for UDF win in Piravom by poll

The Nair Service Society (NSS) has called for creation of the political climate for continuation of the present administrative dispensation in the State during the coming Piravom by elections.

In a statement issued at Perunna, NSS General secretary G Sukumaran Nair said that even though the ruling and Opposition fronts have not been able to arrive at consensus on issues, the State today has a ruling coalition that moves cautiously and an Opposition that had the strength to control the ruling front from moving astray. The peoples mandated during the assembly elections nine months back was for such an arrangement, he said.

A defeat for the ruling front at the Piravom by elections would lead to political and administrative instability and may lead to the collapse of the present system. This may lead to actions on the part of the political parties that may not contribute to the healthy development of democratic process, he said. On the other hand, the other possibility, a mid-term poll, may lead to huge waste of money to the public exchequer.

Even though the NSS has not decided to move away from the policy of equidistance, in the interests of the nation, the NSS director board meeting held at Perunna on Wednesday has decided to find the ‘right distance’ within the ‘equidistance,’ Mr. Nair said.
