Weathermen have mounted a lookout for a low pressure area that is likely to develop over the central parts of the Bay of Bengal around November 6, even as the northeast monsoon unleashed widespread rain over the southern parts of the State since Friday evening.
Heavy rainfall
The Met Centre here has warned that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in the State on November 4 and 7.
A yellow alert (indicating heavy rainfall at isolated places) has been declared for Malappuram and Kozhikode districts on Sunday and Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram on November 7.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the central parts of south Bay of Bengal from Tuesday onwards.
Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts received widespread showers since Friday. Neyyatinakara registered the highest rainfall of 10 cm over the last 24 hours and Thiruvananthapuram airport recorded 8 cm.
The northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.
Rainfall occurred at many places over Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and at isolated places over Rayalaseema, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.
