Nod for road projects in Thiruvalla

Minister sanctions road development works worth ₹500 crore

The Public Works Department has launched road development works to the tune of ₹500 crore in the Thiruvalla Assembly segment alone, Public Works Minister G.Sudhakaran has said.

Mr. Sudhakaran was relaunching the work on the Thiruvalla Bypass at an official function held in Thiruvalla town on Friday evening.

Mr Sudhakaran said stern action would be initiated against those officials who were responsible for the serious flaws in the alignment and design of the Thiruvalla bypass occurred, earlier.

Though the original proposal was to earthfill the 750-metre stretch of the Thiruvalla bypass near Ramanchira, experts have suggested construction of a flyover there, linking Chilanka Junction on the Thiruvalla-Mallappally Road with Ramanchira on the MC Road.

He said the Thiruvalla-Ambalapuzha Road would be modernised. Another ₹26 crore has been sanctioned for Muthoor-Chumathra Road development.

A total of ₹17 crore has been allotted for developing the Kavumbhagom-Ezhinjillom Road and ₹2 crore has been sanctioned for the repair and maintenance of the Muthoor-Kuttapuzha Road.

The Minister said work on the Thiruvalla bypass would be completed in the next nine months itself. Mr. Sudhakaran launched the MC Road renovation work too in Thiruvalla town on the occasion.

Upbeat on 2019

Mathew T.Thomas, MLA, presided the function. Mr. Thomas said 2019 would be the year that would resolve the traffic problems in Thiruvalla town.

Cherian Polachirackal, municipal chairman; K.Ananthagopan, Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Workers’ Welfare Board chairman; Darlin C.Dicruz, KSTP Chief Engineer; M.K.Varghese, chief executive consultant, and C.Rakesh,executive engineer, also spoke.
