: The police have contacted their counterparts in Karnataka to trace the whereabouts of five members of a family from Badiadukka who were reported missing nearly three weeks ago.
“We are in contact with the Ujrai police station in Karnataka. So far, we have not made any breakthrough in the investigations,” Superintendent of Police A. Srinivas told The Hindu .
The Karnataka police have assured us that they would cooperate with the ongoing investigation, Dr. Srinivas said.
The persons who were reported missing are Prema, 25; her younger sister, Remya, 15; Prema’s husband, Udayan, 32; and their children Sreejith, 4; and Sangeetha, 2.
The Badiadukka police registered a case on May 21 after Ms. Prema’s mother, Chandravathi Naik, lodged a complaint in this regard.
Ms. Prema, along with Ms. Remya and her daughter, Sangeetha, had left home on May 14 saying that that they were going to a nearby school to collect the SSLC mark list of Ms. Remya.
When they failed to return, Mr. Udayan, along with his son, went in search of them.
Their cell phones are switched off, the police said.
