No irregularity in land allotment: VS

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan said here on Saturday that a report claimed too be sent by the District Collector of Kasargod to the government alleging irregularities in the allotment of land to an ex-serviceman was only an attempt to curry favour with the new rulers.

He told mediapersons here on Saturday that the land was allotted in Kasaragod to ex-serviceman S.K. Soman of Alappuzha as per rule with the approval of the then Revenue Minister and the State Cabinet. The land was allotted in the 1970s but he did not occupy it owing to certain conditions. The LDF government considered his petition as per rules and there was no irregularity as alleged by some leaders of the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Mr. Achuthanandan also opposed the move of the UDF government to allow private practice by government doctors. He said it would lead to rampant corruption in the medical field.
