No caste, religion for 1.24 lakh students in Kerala?

As many as 1,24,144 students who secured admission to Class I to XII in schools during the 2017-18 academic year in the State have left the caste and religion columns blank.

Of these, 1,23,630 are students have secured admission to Class I to X. In a written reply to D. K. Murali, Minister for Education C. Ravindranath informed the Assembly on Wednesday that 275 who have secured admission to Plus One (Higher Secondary) and 239 in Plus Two during the academic year preferred to leave the caste and religion columns blank.

These 1,23,630 students study in 9,209 schools in the State.

However, all students who have secured admission to Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) courses in the State during 2017-18 have filled the caste and religion columns.
